TEACHING AND LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN THE CLASSROOM
DESCRIPTION:

This subject seeks to analyze the implications of the cognitive revolution in educational psychology for learning theories; thus, traditional models of learning transmission and teaching are contrasted with the constructivist models. In addition, the characteristics of the learning process are identified and analyzed; learning strategies are identified: cognitive, metacognitive and socio-affective; and different evaluation methods are analyzed, discussed and applied.


LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of the module, students should

  1. Recognizes principles of the different general theories of language acquisition.
  2. Analyzes the role of learning styles and their importance in foreign language teaching.
  3. Analyzes the role of learning strategies and their importance in foreign language teaching.

TEACHING METHODS:

Collaborative work, role plays, task-based learning, guided discussions, case studies.
